The college participated during the Philippine Civil Service Commission’s (CSC) 111th Founding Anniversary at the SM City Iloilo last September 12-15. With the theme “Championing R.A.C.E.: Public Service Excellence at Full Speed”, the WVCST displayed its excellence through its very visible presence in weeklong celebration. During the opening ceremony, the college significantly took part by entertaining the audience through a cultural presentation delivered by the WVCST Dance Troupe. Accompanied by the WVCST Band, the group offered authentic renditions of the various Philippine dances. The WVCST Laboratory School also added to the very festive mood by giving a melange of production numbers ranging from martial arts to modern dance numbers. The multi-awarded WVCST Pencak Silat Team wowed the audience with its deadly flair and finesse during their exhibition of the highly acclaimed martial arts. Led by Civil Service Commission (CSC) Chairman Francisco T. Duque III, the college launched the Botika para sa Taumbayan Project last August 5, 2011. The program was held at the Covered Gym where Duque spoke about the commission and the many paths they are going which are all for the achievement of quality civil service. He specially pointed out CSC’s mandate to promote the government workers’ well being in one of their projects: Health, Wellness & Employee Welfare Program. Botika ng Bayan is specifically concerned with the healthy and safe working conditions of government employees. It also includes the provision of maintenance medicines and laboratory work up treatments for work related illnesses in government workers and retirees.
