CEA goes ecofriendly

Wednesday, 08 September 2010

The College of Engineering and Architecture (CEA) Extension Council went out of their way to help Mother Earth when 150 students together with faculty and staff planted seedlings and conducted other outreach activities at the Maasin watershed last August 21. This is the council’s way of continuously participating in the restoration of the watershed as it was tremendously damaged by typhoon Frank last June 2008. The CEA Extension Council further proved their resolve as they really lived up to their noble objective of assisting DENR in its advocacy with regard to environmental conservation to promote awareness, appreciation and understanding on the importance of the environment, especially the benefits derived from it. In addition, several Narra trees will be cut throughout the construction of the ICT – CEA building thus the council sees that it is appropriate to mitigate the effect of the cutting of trees by planting 400 seedlings in replacement. Once the city public college is established, Mabilog said, it will be easy to again transfer the scholars to the new school.
