College executives meet for ACCO

Various issues were discussed during the Academic Council Meeting (ACCO) held last December 9, 2009, 9 AM at the EDTech Center, which was attended by college executives and department heads. Issues concerning 1) Candidates for Graduation for Summer 2008-2009 and 1st semester, October 2009-2010; and 2) Proposed guidelines in the implementation of the Basic Safety Course as a requirement in the B.S. Mar. E. curriculum were top priority in the agenda of said meeting.

College President Dr. Luis M. Sorolla, Jr. answered questions raised by some participants, mainly pertaining to the automotive, HRT, library and medical/dental departments. He verbally committed to form an independent committee that will look into the statistics and reports about surplus of student applicants, especially in the College of Industrial Technology. He also told the body about the proposal of Globe Telecom, Inc. to cater in-campus announcements via cell phones to employees and students for free. On the later part of the ACCO, Dr. Sorolla hinted on possible government grant of compensation benefits for the employees.

Other matters not indicated in the agenda were tackled for information purposes, as follows: 1) IRR for research deloading; and 2) proposal to expand the offering of regular industrial technology program in the evening.

FEA President Samie M. Billanes took the floor to talk about the FEA Christmas Party, which will be held on December 15, 2009 at DJSMMNC, Barotac Nuevo Campus. Agreement on assembly place and time prior trip to the venue for main campus employees was thereby confirmed. Mr. Billanes further announced that reimbursement of fuel expenses at P100.00 per passenger will be allowed for employee-vehicle owners who will use their vehicles in going to Barotac Nuevo Campus to attend the said Christmas party.
